Big Exciting Event
Mountain running is a worldwide sport and a discipline of Athletics. The World Mountain Running Association (WMRA) was born in 1984 as the International Committee of Mountain Running (ICMR). In 1985, it first staged ‘the World Trophy’, attracting entries from more than 30 countries. In 2002, the IAAF Congress officially recognized it as an International Competition as defined by IAAF Rule 1 and in 2009 the name was changed to the Mountain Running World Championships, with nowadays more than 40 nations taking part.

Barngetuny Mountain Run is open, inclusive and stimulate community engagement, civic engagement and local economic development. Provides a platform to inspire others to better themselves & promotes innovation, collaboration and solidarity amongst participants and spectators.
Naturing Talents
The Mountain Race was awarded by AK to Central Rift owing to its performance in long distance athletic events, the renowned Athletes from the region including; Betty Saina, Kiptum Muigei and Youtuber Julius Yego who hails from the Hills of Tinderet.
Hon. Julius K. Melly, MP being the Area MP supported fully through purchase of Land and the Construction of High Altitude
Training Camp situated at the steep slopes of Tinderet Hills adjacent to Tinderet Tea Estates Ltd & Forests, with an Altitude of over 2,500m above the sea level.
